        A Strong Mind, LLC seeks $100,000 in state funding to establish a structured, after-school youth development center in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. The program will operate weekday afternoons and provide homework assistance, social skills training, anti-bullying workshops, self-esteem development, and conflict resolution sessions for youth ages 8–17.
The requested funds will be used to enhance and equip a safe, fully furnished community facility, purchase technology and instructional materials, and provide staff training and supplies to deliver evidence-based programs that promote positive behavior, academic success, and emotional resilience.
This project directly supports the State of Louisiana’s goals of improving educational outcomes, reducing youth violence and bullying, and fostering personal growth among young people in underserved communities.

                  The public purpose of A Strong Mind, LLC is to empower youth in Donaldsonville and Ascension Parish through education, mentorship, and social-emotional learning. State funds will be used to create a safe after-school environment that strengthens protective factors against academic failure, substance use, and bullying while promoting leadership, self-respect, and responsibility.
This initiative fulfills a critical community need by providing local youth with structured programs during the high-risk after-school hours. Through academic support and targeted life-skills development, A Strong Mind will reduce barriers to achievement and promote community well-being.
By investing in this project, the State will help build a generation of confident, capable young people equipped with the skills to succeed in school, resolve conflicts peacefully, and contribute positively to their neighborhoods.

                  Goal 1: Establish a Safe, Supportive After-School Program
Renovate and furnish a facility to accommodate 30–40 students per afternoon.
Operate Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. during the school year.
Ensure all staff complete background checks, CPR, and youth engagement training.
Goal 2: Improve Academic Success and Study Habits
Provide daily homework assistance and tutoring support led by qualified staff.
Track participant grades quarterly to monitor academic progress.
Offer access to laptops, Wi-Fi, and educational software to enhance learning.
Goal 3: Promote Positive Social and Emotional Development
Facilitate weekly social skills and self-esteem groups to build confidence and communication.
Deliver anti-bullying and conflict resolution workshops through interactive sessions.
Host monthly motivational sessions with guest speakers and mentors from the community.
Goal 4: Strengthen Family and Community Connections
Host quarterly family engagement nights and community service events.
Partner with local schools, churches, and civic organizations for referrals and resources.
Provide parents with tools and strategies for reinforcing positive behaviors at home.
