Provide a summary of the project or program:
This funding is requested to support the ongoing growth and achievements of the C.A.P.E program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The goal of this request is to give students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette ongoing opportunities to research, design, develop, and maintain low earth orbiting satellites.

C.A.P.E. stands for the Cajun Advanced Picosatellite Experiment. CAPE is a nonprofit and student-run organization that develops and builds picosatellites, It also works on a host of other aerospace and mission-related systems such as weather balloons, ground stations, and sensor buoys. Our facilities are provided by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

C.A.P.E. offers its members a very rare and exciting opportunity to get involved in aerospace development at the undergraduate level. Members don’t need need any prior knowledge of programming and electronics. In fact, we routinely recruit from beginner computer science and electrical/computer engineering courses. Participating students learn from more experienced members and industry mentors in a far more hands-on kind of environment then you will experience in a classroom or even a lab. C.A.P.E. students can learn a great deal about using micro-controllers, applied RF communication (digital and analog), computer programming at an embedded level, implementing electronics in aerospace applications, creating professional hardware schematics, and constructing PCB layouts.

C.A.P.E. is an undergraduate student run organization at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. C.A.P.E.'s mission is to expose undergraduate students in multiple engineering and science disciplines to cutting-edge engineering practices and technologies focusing on mission-critical satellite development. Students are now working on their third launch, and this mission includes an on-board camera, satellite stabilization, and a radiation measurement payload.
