What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
The public purpose of this entity is to enhance the physical, mental, and social development of the local youth population. By utilizing state funds to bolster the high school athletic program, we aim to increase student engagement, improve academic retention rates, and combat public health issues such as childhood obesity. Our program serves a vital role in community stabilization, providing a safe, structured environment that fosters leadership, discipline, and the 'soft skills' essential for the future state workforce.
What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Goal 1: Promote Student Wellness and Public Health
Objective 1A: Increase overall student participation in the athletic program by 10% over the next academic year by reducing "pay-to-play" barriers through subsidized equipment.
Objective 1B: Maintain a safe competitive environment by replacing 100% of outdated or non-compliant safety gear (e.g., helmets, pads) before the start of the fall season.
Goal 2: Foster Academic Success and Retention
Objective 2A: Ensure that 100% of participating student-athletes maintain the state-mandated GPA requirements for athletic eligibility through the provision of structured after-school environments.
Objective 2B: Achieve a graduation rate among student-athletes that is at least 5% higher than the general student body population by the end of the 2027-2028 school year.
Goal 3: Develop Workforce Readiness and Character
Objective A: Implement a "Leadership & Ethics" curriculum or workshop series for team captains and seniors, reaching at least 150 students annually.
Objective 3B: Provide student-athletes with mentorship and teamwork experience that translates to a measurable increase in "soft-skill" proficiency, as evaluated by end-of-season coach/educator assessments.
Goal 4: Enhance Community Stability and Equity
Objective A: Eliminate financial barriers for low-income families by providing necessary "Acquisitions" (uniforms/gear), ensuring that socioeconomic status does not determine a student's ability to participate.
What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
August 1, 2025-June 30, 2026
